Volunteer John Chick is counting down the days until he begins a brave challenge of cycling 10,000km from Wales’ capital of Cardiff to Turkey’s capital of Istanbul… and back!

Inspired by family members battling cancer, John will take 5 months off work unpaid as he travels across Europe to raise funds with 100% of the total going towards the charities Ty Hafan and Velindre Cancer Centre.

Team Clev are delighted to support John’s admirable cause. A signed glove from WBO world light-heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly will be auctioned off to raise funds as John has targeted £10,000 as his goal for his overall fundraising.

Cleverly commented, “What John is doing is great and people should really get behind him. It’s a great cause and one I’m proud to support.”

The self-funded journey will include an average cycle of 100km a day and 600km a week, with 1 day off a week. John, father of 2, will sleep rough in a tent and sleeping bag during the cycle and he won’t be aided by a support vehicle.
