WBO light-heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly and British/Commonwealth champion Tony Bellew both weighed inside the championship limit this afternoon at the Contemporary Urban Centre in Liverpool.

The official weight of Cleverly was 12st 6.25lbs and Bellew’s weight was dead on the limit of 12st 7lbs. There were around 400 people in attendance and the majority of the crowd were Scousers.

There were ugly scenes when both fighters went head-to-head. Both men pushed their heads together before Bellew pushed the Welshman’s chest while shouting swear words and sending a classless cut throat gesture across the stage as security dragged him away. The response from Cleverly was laughter and a smile while reminding Bellew that “I’m the champ”. The entourage of Bellew continued the barrage of insults and threats backstage before being escorted away by security.
